Q + A

How did Florence Lane come to be?

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved and been interested in fashion and style. I remember being fascinated with fashion history, admiring the styles that remain timeless and observing the trends that come and go. I believe that fashion and how we dress is a beautiful way to express ourselves and adds to our uniqueness as women. I have always desired to one day own my own business in the fashion industry! After lots of prayer and consideration, here I am!

Additionally, I graduated from Louisiana State University in December of 2020 with a major in Marketing and a Minor in Textiles, Apparel, and Merchandising. I also took some design classes where I gained knowledge about fabrics, types of silhouttes and much more!

Where does the name come from?

I decided to name my business Florence Lane as it has strong meaning and roots to me, personally. Florence is the first name of my maternal grandmother, Florence, or "Maw-Maw Flo". Lane is the middle name of my paternal grandmother, Priscilla, or "Granny Pris". Both women have always inspired me in many ways. Maw-Maw Flo is the epitome of a southern belle. She is sweet, sassy and always put together. Granny Pris is a very strong and determined woman with refined and tasteful style. To me, they both represent strength, grace, and beauty in their own unique ways, and I am absolutely honored to use their names. I have a genuine respect of my family and where I come from, and there is not a name I feel embodies my vision for this company as much as that one.

What type of clothing will you offer?

We offer an assortment of timeless, feminine quality clothing. The brands offered at Florence Lane have been hand selected and chosen for their quality and on trend styles that will last in your wardrobe for years to come. I do offer some sustainable clothing, as well as plus size. I would love to expand both of those options as well.

What makes you unique?

Being a woman, I understand firsthand that shopping can be equally fun as it is frustrating. I find it very hard to know what true size we are because all brands are different! I have made this process more seamless for you by hand measuring each garment so you can know exactly which size to purchase! It takes the guess work out of it and allows you to be able to better gauge your size. I encourage you to take a few minutes to measure and write down your measurements so you can easily know which size you'll need when shopping with us!

Thank you for shopping with us,

XOXO Sarah!
